From May 15-27, hundreds of artsy types will descend upon Loch Haven Park for 12 days of wild theatrical fun known as the Orlando Fringe Festival, the longest running U.S. Fringe Festival. Actors, writers, dancers, musicians, poets and artists come from all over the world to perform a wide variety of shows, from thought-provoking plays to gender-bending musicals. The main rule of Fringe is “anything goes,” which means that this year’s 64 shows are free to pull out all the stops, including nudity, offensive language and circus tricks, in order to get your butt in their seats.
Metromix Orlando was on the scene at the 2008 Fringe
Preview, a special sneak peek at 30 of the upcoming shows. Each act performed three-minute teasers of their shows, and the audience members had programs with the
option to check “yes” or “no” after each preview, Roman-Gladiator style.
