Vampire smackdown: 'True Blood' vs. 'Twilight'

Who's the baddest vampire series of them all?

Unless you’ve seriously overslept in your coffin, you’ve probably noticed there’s been a pop culture resurgence in hunky, tortured bloodsuckers and the women who love them. People just can't get enough of the unbearably sexy living dead and watching them hook up with us mere mortals!

In this post-"Buffy" world, no two franchises have incited—and capitalized off of—this trend as well as HBO’s semi-pornographic “True Blood” and Stephenie Meyer’s ode to abstinence, the "Twilight Saga." The polar opposites are all over the place these days: “True Blood” returns to the tube for its second season this month, and though the latest "Twilight" installment, “New Moon,” won’t hit theaters until November, the almost daily photo dispatches from the set make us feel like it’s already here.

But which modern vampire tale is the bloody best? We've created a few supernatural categories to help us decide.
