Madame Tartine
4.1
- Neighborhood: River North

This 1960s-inspired French bistro occupies the space most recently home to River North gastropub BB’s. Jack Binyon and Donnie Kruse of BB’s have teamed up with Jonathan Segal (Minnies, P.J. Clarke's) to transform the spot, bringing in Jonathan Foster (formerly of Savarin and Le Passage) as top toque. The namesake tartines (open-faced sandwiches) will appear as daily specials--think lardons with sauteed spinach and gruyere. The menu also includes classics such as mussels with white wine, herbs and cream; roast chicken with Herbes de Provence; and steak frites. Look for added perks such as house-baked baguettes and a cheese cart too. Expect more of a lounge vibe as the night wears on. A late-night “salon” menu will be served after 11 p.m. As for decor, think Paris circa 1969, complete with vintage wallpaper and light fixtures, plus French artifacts and celeb photos of celebs from the era, such as Brigitte Bardot.
