Bravo,
This is Mike Dontas, the owner of the Copperhead Grille. I read your comments online about your most recent experience at our restaurant. I am personally inviting you back to give the Copperhead Grille on Airport Road another review. I can assure you and the people reading these reviews that your experience was not typical of how we do business and how our guests are treated. Like every new restaurant that opens we did run into a few glitches along the way. Those glitches are long gone now, we have one of the best restaurants in the Lehigh Valley, with the freshest ingredients, and our staffs' number one goals is to make the people who walk through our doors feel like part of the family. Not too many of restaurants in our market segment with our value can say that they have a menu that consists of mainly homemade ingredients. And I take it personally offensive that you are telling people that we "cut" corners and are trying to trick our guests, in so many words.
I do find it a little odd though that you wrote some very strong comments on how "disappointed" and "please read", that sounds like you have something to gain from bad mouthing our estaqblishment. If that is the case, do me and the readers of these reviews a favor, if you think you can put your food up against ours I challenge you to a cook off, my name MIKE DONTAS, versus you bravo, or whomever you are.
As to the rest of the readers, I'll see you at the Grille.

I love this place!! I have become a regular at the airport road Copperhead. You can't go wrong with any item that you choose! And the atmosphere is fun and enjoyable! My service at the Copperhead is always wonderful! All of the staff seems to work together, like a family. It is one of my favorite restaurants by far! I recommend this restaurant to anyone with kids, or if it's just you and a loved one.

Disappointing, Please Read.

Being a long-time fan of the original Copperhead, I was really disappointed with my overall experience at the Airport Road location. While the ambiance and decor were very enjoyable, both the food and service were below par. First, while waiting for a table, my party (of 6 people) went to the bar for a drink. I ordered a 30oz lager and, to my dismay, the beer was served in a mug that must have just came from the dishwasher, as it was piping hot. The beer never had a chance to stay cold.

In terms of food, the appetiser salad was atrocious. The lettuce and greenery were, oddly, very hard and sharp. It was actually uncomfortable to chew.

For the main course, I ordered one of my favorites from the original Copperhead, the broiled seafood combination. At the old Copperhead, this plate consisted of broiled scallops, haddock, stuffed shrimp and a crab cake. To my dismay, when the plate was brought to my table, there was no crab cake. I had asked the waitress for another menu, to check to make sure I had read the description correctly. (If no mention of a crab cake, I wouldn't have pushed the issue). But the menu read something like "..."scallops, stuffed shrimp with our jumbo lump crab cake".

To their credit, the owner/manager does come to every table to ask how everything was going. I began to explain my confusion, and was surprised at the curt and rude way he responded to me. He explained that the shrimp was stuffed with our jumbo lump crab cake, not that the dish had a jumbo lump crab cake. I understood, but told him that it was worded confusingly, and given that the meal at the old Copperhead included a crab cake.
Still, he should have been more receptive and polite in answering my question, and not have made sarcastic remarks that embarrassed me in front of my party. He did not offer anything to compensate for my poor experience, but just walked away from the table.

Regardless of that incident, the food was terrible. The shrimp and scallops were minuscule, and the fish smelled like fish (not very fresh tasting). Everyone in my party pretty much agreed at how poor the experience was, and that the owner/manager's behavior was condescending and unprofessional.

Unfortunately, this has happened to all too many restaurants when they expand. Corners get cut to decrease costs (prices were higher than the original Copperhead, while the quality and quantity of the food was much worse). No doubt this was an expensive venture for the ownership, but if the quality of the food and service remains poor, the novelty will wear and, in the long run, business will suffer.
