Stardust Video & Coffee

Atmosphere:

If you're looking for a spot where people use the word "interwebs" and mean it, then you should stop by Stardust. And if you're looking for people with whom to discuss Fellini and the state of local activism, Stardust is still your place. Dark and kind of dingy with the smell of coffee and musty video tapes pervading the area, you've got the coffee shop where you won't feel embarrassed about using the internet, no matter what freaky subject you're researching.

Speed & Signal:

The 802.11b connection is called "Stardust Coffee" so you shouldn't find yourself connecting to some other random router. The power outlets around the plentiful tables have signs on them declaring "Plug in at your own risk!" which probably means nothing, but maybe you should come with a full battery.

Snacks:

Stardust has great coffee, if a slightly less-than-stellar variety of drinks. So if they don't have the coffee mixture you're after, you can take heart that there are some unique and tasty beers on hand. A wide selection of Rogue, lambics, and microbrews populate the little fridge, giving you the extra courage you need to ask one of the cute baristas out (and giving you the solace needed to withstand their inevitable rejection). If you're hungry, try out one of the many sandwiches (a bunch of which are vegan and vegetarian friendly) for around $7 or so (each comes with a small salad).

Satisfaction:

Stardust is a delightful place to wile away the day and nighttime hours on the computer, though the temptation to view the art on the walls or peruse the video selection may constantly distract you.

Stardust is at 1842 E. Winter Park Road in Orlando. Call 407-623-3393.
