The dish

On their list of signature sandwiches is the shrimp po boy for $7.99, which comes with your choice of French fries, cole slaw, and potato salad. Rather than French bread (as is typical for a po boy) it’s served on a sesame seed bun, which does two things: it dampens the flavor of the shrimp with gummy bread, and the over-inflated bun makes it hard to keep the shrimp in the sandwich folds. The shrimp, breaded and fried, are tasty on their own but are overpowered rather than helped by the slaw/Thousand Island dressing topping that soaks in and deteriorates the bun.
The side of potato salad is a very filling choice to add to your meal. Large, soft chunks of potato are given the treatment they deserve in the form of a thick, tangy sauce that threatens to pull the whole dish with it on your fork. It’s very rich for a potato salad and definitely makes up for a disappointing main dish (see: shrimp po boy).
