RESTAURANTS: Tweet for sushi, ya twit(ter)
Okay, so I know there's a bunch of you using Twitter and throwing your new ridiculous vernacular around ("I just tweeted @pernicioushotdog on the tweet Versailles tweety!"). Whatever. You're free to do as you like, especially since local businesses are starting to buy into this fad (yes, fad - we'll see how long it takes before Twitter resides in the same festering improv comic bucket as the macarena).
According to Etan over on the Sentinel blogs, the sushi joint Ichiban has just begun accepting orders via Twitter. Why would they do such a thing? Because some local tech geek wants to take one of the last remaining vestiges of social interaction untouched by technology - using your human voice - out of the equation. He posted a challenge (on Twitter no less, sigh) declaring that he'll order lunch once a week from the first downtown Orlando restaurant to accept orders via Twitter.
How this is simpler than, I don't know, picking up the phone, is beyond me (again, I don't Twitter - for all I know the program may give you a hot stone massage every time you use it), but hey, if you want it, you've got it now.
By the way, Metromix Orlando has a Twitter page, too. Send us something cool! We love the attention!
