FOOD: New eats at McRaney's!

You know, nothing against the venerable McRaney's Tavern (one of my alltime favorite watering holes), but fried food really only takes you so far. Yes, I love their jalapeno poppers, their boneless wings, and whatever else those frygrill magicians pull out from behind the wall, but my poor heart can only take so much death-breading before calling it quits.

But now if I get the drunk munchies there on a Saturday night (which will probably happen much more often now thanks to their $2.50 Guinness Saturday special) I have a new option. I can now get a fresh, personal pizza made for just for me out on the back patio! It's called Lola (yes, L-O-L-A, just like The Kinks said), and it's appropriately unique enough to upset the bar food status quo.

Serving up all kinds of fire-grilled, vegan-friendly pizza, Lola Pizza wants you to give them a try. For as little as $5 you can get a personal cheese (or "cheese") pizza but it's personal-sized in the way a mallet to the head is kind of subtle. The pizzas average around 11-inches or so, so if you're a pizza size queen you're going to get your fill, and for a good price. I'll definitely be digging into one this coming weekend, and while it may not be much healthier than fried chicken chunks in hot sauce, I'm willing to bet my hungover self will feel slightly better the day after for having it.
