By the late '80s, Duran Duran—now a trio consisting of Simon, Nick and John, with help from guitarist Warren Cuccurullo and drummer Sterling Campbell—were viewed by many as has-beens. Their 1988 album "Big Thing" produced just one minor hit, "I Don't Want Your Love," and was panned by critics for its clumsy attempts to incorporate elements of late '80s dance pop and house music into the group's sound.
