Orlando locals Megaphone are bringing their fans a little early Christmas cheer with the release of their holiday track “The Perfect Gift.”  The song, which was written as a present for singer/guitarist Matt Bloodwell’s fiancé in 2006, is certainly a departure from the typical seasonal tracks that most bands put out. "We're an original band so why not have our own Christmas song?" explains Bloodwell regarding the decision to avoid the “covers game” and create a new piece of music while working on their next studio album.

The track is a solid rock record that opens with a few stereotypical jingle bells before launching into some atmospheric guitar work and instantly memorable lyrics that declare, “You give me what I wanted everyday.”  Bloodwell’s emotional vocal delivery comes through loud and clear and it’s obvious that the song’s sentiments are sincere.  Based on Megaphone’s history of straightforward rock and roll, it’s also not surprising that “The Perfect Gift” has just the right amount of power ballad in it to get you singing along before the final chorus comes to a close.

Megaphone is offering “The Perfect Gift” as a 99 cent download available directly from the band at their website www.megaphonemuisc.net.  You can also preview the track at www.myspace.com/megaphone.  And speaking of perfect gifts, local fans can check out the band’s pre-Christmas show on Dec 21 at The Social in downtown Orlando.
