MUSIC: Your Orlando band need a break?
Sure, it's not the biggest break in the world, but what do you expect for Orlando? Don't you dare say Lou Pearlman or you're getting a busted nose. Anyway, if you and your band are tired of playing dusty dives and barfly lounges you should consider signing up for The Social's Audition Night(s). You just may get the opportunity to open for a show at The Social, and without the pesky business of having to be friends with the bands you open for (which is good because all the bands you know suck).
The dates are February 2, 4, 9, and 11, so send your request to asapalmer@thesocial.org right the hell now if you want to get in. They're only letting 4 bands play per night, so hurry up and reserve your spot. Open to Orlando bands only because hey, this is community enrichment my friends, ground-up relocalization! For the rest of you's it's $5 to see the bands totally rock or fail spectacularly (think of it like a monster truck show, but with less chance of spectator injury), and the doors open at 7 p.m.

What a cool idea! Hopefully the lucky bands will get to open for bands with great national exposure. We've got oodles of talented musicians in Orla...
