Under the radar #1
Yacht, "I Believe in You, Your Magic is Real" (Marriage)
Official site

Who: Jona Bechtolt, best known as one-half of pop experimentalists The Blow, goes solo and plugs in with this electronically-inclined incarnation.

What: Trippy, occasionally danceable forays into quirky but engaging indulgences of pop nirvana.

Made for: Hipsters still longing for a new record from the Postal Service, only not nearly as mature.

Great Northern, "Trading Twilight for Daylight" (Eenie Meanie)
Official site

Who: An up and coming quartet of LA upstarts comprised of two girls and two guys deeply entrenched in the local indie rock scene.

What: Pop-tastic hooks and gloriously harmonious melodies mark this ear-opening debut

Made for: Clued-in indie kids looking for well-crafted, Beatles-esque pop-rock that won't insult your intelligence while being pretty as all get out.

Dungen, "Tio Bitar" (Kemado)
Official site

Who: Five Swedish dudes exploring the furthest reaches of druggy psychedelia and classic rock

What: Mind-blowing, expansive rock freak-outs that recall old-school space cadets like Strawberry Alarm Clock and Iron Butterfly

Made for: The current generation of Prog-Rock fans, pot smokers and disgruntled FM radio aficionados missing bands that could "jam" and featured drum solos.
