The SantArchy began in sober innocence with approximately 10 friendly, fun-loving Santas gathering at the new downtown Publix across from Lake Eola. First drinks were purchased at Crooked Bayou where more Santas met up the group. This process continued throughout the night and included countless stops to the downtown bars that don't charge a cover. The only exception to this was Wall Street Plaza, where venue workers were persuaded by 60-plus Santas to let the group enter for free so that they could continue to spread "Christmas cheer."
