Fringe Picks
These are the shows that were so popular last year that they got resurrected for a second shot at the Patron’s Pick title.
If you only see one show this Fringe, you should probably make it VarieTease: No. 24 by babyBlueStar Productions and Invisible Arts. This seamless spectacle combines sexy dancers, sassy drag queens, a midget and other quirky characters with elaborate costumes and a killer soundtrack for an experience akin to Cirque du Soleil on speed. And this year, they’re going to be on roller skates.
If VarieTease fails to meet your skin-showing quota, then Bathhouse: The Musical (pictured at left) by Daack-Evanicki Productions might. This steaming, scantily clad song-and-dance extravaganza will leave you feeling squeaky-clean. And there’s always a good chance that someone might drop the soap.
Last but not least is the cranky, cantankerous Wayburn Sassy
as he revisits Dewey Chaffee Comedy
Enterprises’ The Screw You Revue. This unabashedly offensive 2007 Patron’s
Pick features entertainment legend Wayburn Sassy and his lovely … um, female
assistant as they revive his canceled '70s late-night talk show and drop
F-bombs like they’re Britney Spears’ children.
