MOVIES: Snag a cool poster at Cult Classics

Getting to see "Jaws" on the big screen is cool enough, but getting to take home a ridiculously cool poster based on the film is just a little bite out of heaven. Local artist Billy Davis has designed a series of vivid, retro-style posters to go along with each film of Enzian's Cult Classics series, including "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "RoboCop," "The Jerk" and last, but certainly not least, "Jaws."

I happen to be the proud owner of a very cool "RoboCop" poster which I purchased last week after seeing "The Jerk." So if you're lucky, posters from the other films will be available at tonight's showing of "Jaws." Each 18″ x 24″ poster costs a mere $10 and is a limited edition, hand-pulled screen print that is numbered and signed by each designer. If you like what you see, there will be more to come. Lure Design and artist Billy Davis will be teaming up to produce more hand printed posters for future Cult Classics in the next few months.

I think the Enzian's going to need a bigger theater for this one, though. Not only is "Jaws" a thriller and a cult classic, it's also the perfect summer movie, so be sure to grab a date an buy your tickets online. Or you can show up early and hang out in the Eden Bar before the show starts.

And be sure to pick up one of these super cool, limited edition posters. You'll be the envy of all your friends, you know, if your friends are really into kitschy pop culture memorabilia. And if they're not, then why are you hanging out with them? I'm kidding, but seriously, go see "Jaws." How many chances do you get to see a young Richard Dreyfuss on the big screen? Not enough.

Showtime is tongiht at 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $5. You can get more info on the posters at Blabbermouth.

About Me

Hi! My name is Sarah Lockard and I update the calendar for Metromix, so I'm always on the lookout for cool events happening in town. I like to do a lot of theater and go see as many shows as I can, but I also try to check out a lot of arts related events in the area, like festivals, local music, art shows, etc. Oh yeah, and I'm a really big comic book/sci-fi geek. My favorite graphic novel is "Transmetropolitan" and my favorite TV show is "Lost." Alright, talk to you later.
