EVENTS: Paco's Marj-arita Fiesta
A good cause is a good cause, but when you couple it with good Mexican food (and a ton of cheap margaritas), you've got yourself a certifiable feel-good party. This Saturday, June 7, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Paco's Mexican Restaurant on Fairbanks is hosting MARJarita Fiesta, a big old get-together with food, drinks, and live music.
But what's with the clever name? Well, if you've been to Paco's sometime in the last 27 years, you very well may have been greeted, served, and fed by Marjorie Myers. Sadly, she recently lost her battle with cancer, so in her honor Paco's is setting up the Marjorie A. Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be given to high school students pursuing a degree in the culinary arts. But Paco's needs some help to kick-start this, and there's no better way to do that than to get your drink on.
Tickets to the event are $20, and you get one of several entrees (see below), which includes chips, salsa, queso, and a drink (soda, water, iced tea, or beer). Also, there will be $2 margaritas soaking the joint, so if you don't come out of there with salt-crusted lips you're doing it wrong. You can get your tickets right at the restaurant, so you might as well have dinner while you're reserving your spot.
The menu items to choose from will be:
- Tostada with rice and sour cream
- Two taco dinner with rice, beans, and sour cream
- Enchilada, taco dinner with rice, beans, and sour cream
- Burrito, taco, with rice, beans, and sour cream
You can get any of those items with chicken, beef, or beans.
Start your night out early with a good meal, cheap margaritas, and a good conscience.
