EVENTS: American Craft Beer week is next week!

You have no idea how lucky you are. It wasn't until sometime last decade that American craft beer actually became something more than a pedestal on which wealthy drunkards hung their elitism. While everyone else was drinking Bud and Miller, they were extending their pinkies while sipping Dogfish Head and Lost Coast, and oh, weren't they ever so hoity toity? Well yeah, they kind of were, because it was pretty damn expensive to get that stuff if you didn't live local to it. But now the foamy floodgates have opened and we have a place like Redlight Redlight in our midst. Not only do they have more beer than you can name but it's also served at a very reasonable price. Hooray progress!

At any rate, this upcoming week is American Craft Beer week, and to celebrate Redlight Redlight is hosting some pretty cool nights all throughout:

Monday: Anderson Valley Brewing kicks off the whole shebang, plus there's going to be beer movies (and probably a healthy mixture of documentary and comedies).

Tuesday: Terrapin Pint Night! Rye Squared and Monk's Revenge on tap. Terrapin has got the meanest RyePA on the market, and it's tasty as all get-out. Do celebrate them.

Wednesday: Jolly Pumpkin Cask Ale Night, and there's going to be Calabazza Blanca with hibiscus flowers in a cask. Even if you don't do the flowery stuff, come on, indulge in Redlight's ability to bring some rare-ass stuff to Orlando - in a cask, even! - and try it.

Thursday: Tapping a keg of Barrel Aged Old Rasputin XI. If you haven't drunk yourself silly by this point, you should really give this stuff a taste. Maybe you should just call in sick to work from now until the weekend.

Friday: Orange You Glad Fest. Just because the beer party's over doesn't mean the drinking's stopped.

There you have it! Go celebrate American alcoholic artistry! Your liver may not thank you, but your taste buds will.

About Me

I have been freelancing with Metromix Orlando since early 2006, covering nearly every new bar that has spewed from Orlando's chest cavity since then. I also dabble in restaurants, interviews, and eating O-town's grossest goods. Among the things that generally earn my disdain: "premiere" clubs, ultra lounges, frat holes, scene joints, and preserved duck eggs.
