ARTS & CULTURE: Jessica Earley wants your sympathy

Local performance artist Jessica Earley, has a sad story and she wants your sympathy.

"In September 2008, I cut my foot on  a shard of glass while stepping out of bed. I needed stitches, but without having proper medical insurance, I was left to my own devices. I made a tourniquet, bought some gauze and bled for seven days."

Ouch! Jessica captured this painful memory on film, with the help of her partner in performance art Brian Feldman. You may remember their Valentine's Day "elopement" festivities at Langford Park. The film will be shown tonight at the 1st Thursdays event at Orlando Museum of Art, which always makes for an exciting evening of art and entertainment. This month's theme is "A Touch of Glass" and features original glass works by local artists. Food, beer and wine are also available. If you have a free night, I suggest you head down to OMA to soak up culture and show Jessica some love. All she wants, after all, is your sympathy.

About Me

Hi! My name is Sarah Lockard and I update the calendar for Metromix, so I'm always on the lookout for cool events happening in town. I like to do a lot of theater and go see as many shows as I can, but I also try to check out a lot of arts related events in the area, like festivals, local music, art shows, etc. Oh yeah, and I'm a really big comic book/sci-fi geek. My favorite graphic novel is "Transmetropolitan" and my favorite TV show is "Lost." Alright, talk to you later.
