NIGHTLIFE: Sip is equal opportunity pick-up joint
For those of you who read my column on Sip today, you know that the crowd was predominately gay. What I didn't mention was even though it was predominately gay, many of the female friends of the gay men were at the bar were straight.
My husband and I weren't at the bar 30 seconds and he was getting hit on by some chick. Or she thought he would be another "safe" male friend to hang out with. Either way, I laughed as I was ordering our drinks and let the scene play out. After a bit of slurring about business cards she got one out and asked him to call her. After grabbing our drinks and going outside, he lamented on how if he was still single he would totally come back to this place. I guess he's never gotten talked to by a girl so fast. I told him if he kept talking like that, he was going to find himself a Sip regular in no time.
So spreading the word, Sip seems to be a win/win for both gay and straight guys -- just not my husband.
